Achakpa Barnabas Ikyo was born in 1979 in Nigeria. He studied at the Benue State University Makurdi Nigeria and obtained a B.Sc . (Hons) degree in Physics in 2000. In 2006, he obtained an M.Sc . in Environmental Physics from the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, Nigeria. From 2008 to 2011, Barnabas studied for a Ph.D. in Physics from the Advanced Technology Institute, University of Surrey Guildford, his research was on characterization and optimization of photonics based devices and their applications in Quantum electronics, Biophysics, Medical diagnosis and Environmental sensing. Currently, he is on his Post-Doctorate at department of Physics/Advanced Technology Institute University of Surrey Guildford, Surrey where he is developing a photonics based detection system of E.coli in water. Interested in semiconductor and optoelectronics device Physics and their applications in the fields of Medicine and Environmental monitoring. Currently developing a photonics based detection system for E.coli in water and food stuff.
