Born in and educated in Poland, Tom Spyt first came to work in Britain in 1981. He now has an international reputation in the field of Cardiothoracic surgery.
He has been a Consultant at University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) NHS Trust for over fourteen years following training in Poland, Bristol, Glasgow and USA. He specialises on beating heart surgery, remodelling of the left ventricle damaged by ischaemic heart disease, Mitral valve repair and Radiofrequency Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation. Over a series of years he has been one of the most productive surgeons in the UK carrying out over 400 operations a year.
