Dr Gregory Jasion obtained his MEng in Aerospace engineering at the University of Southampton in 2008. He completed his PhD on helicopter dust entrainment in 2013 during which he developed and contributed to several codes for the simulation of multiphase and granular flow. Greg subsequently joined the Microstructured Optical Fibres group at the ORC as a specialist in numerical modelling of multiphase flow applied to fused glass and fibre drawing. His current focus is on the flow of liquid silica during the draw of microstructured optical fibres.Research interests:• microstructure evolution during draw.• surface capillary instability.• mechanical analysis of fibres.• granular flow.

Dr Gregory Jasion is (or has formerly been) affiliated with Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton and University of Southampton.
