Rod Dykeman started his career in electronics as an Avionics Technician in the Royal Air Force in 1983. After leaving the Royal Air Force, he worked for Marconi before joining the University of Nottingham in 1992. He was appointed Clean Room Manager of the Photonic and Radio Frequency Engineering Laboratory in 1993, and he is responsible for technical support within the Clean Room. These responsibilities include creating and maintaining processing techniques (photolithography, wet & dry etching, thin film deposition), maintenance and repair of the equipment associated with the Clean Room, and characterisation and machining of samples using FIBSEM techniques.
