Goran Mashanovich is a Royal Society Research Fellow and Reader in the Faculty of Physical and Applied Sciences, University of Southampton. Goran received BSc and MSc degrees from the University of Belgrade, Serbia and PhD in Silicon Photonics from the University of Surrey. In 2008, he was awarded a Royal Society Research Fellowship to work in a new research field in the UK, that of Mid-Infrared Silicon Photonics. His research interests include couplers, filters, carrier lifetime and polarisation issues, switches, modulators, and mid-infrared group IV photonic devices for a range of applications. He is author of 130 publications in the field of Silicon Photonics, including 7 book chapters, and he gave invited talks on group IV photonics at several major photonics conferences including CLEO, Group IV Photonics, Photonics West, MRS, and Photonics Europe. He is a member of Programme Committees of the SPIE Silicon Photonics and IEEE Group IV Photonics conferences. Goran is also very interested in innovative teaching and has received several teaching awards.
